Spiral in Stone is a collection of new works by Brooklyn-based artist, Claire Christerson. Drawing from a sense of terrestrial wonder, Christerson materializes narratives of growth and joy in the form of vibrant, earthen planters and sculpted ceramic works. Each vessel captures elements of a mystic garden, where bats, snails, and butterflies commune across checkered portals in neon tones. The reoccurring spiral motif marks a shift in direction for Christerson’s practice and their investigation of control, freedom, and collective regeneration. As catalyzers for growth and chimeric metamorphosis, the vessels in Spiral in Stone offer guidance for plants and their human companions through the myriad cycles and spirals of life.
